And what a great trip it has been:
Week One/Two: Lucky Lloyd kicking it off. Lucky’s dynamic character and showmanship set the tone for the jam and had the folks coming back for more. Thanks, Lucky !!
Week Two: Welcome Harold Hankel aka "Maggot Brain". He and Gino were like having Eddie Hazel and Michael Hampton on the same stage (Michael actually succeeded Eddie in George Clinton's band), swapping solos and finishing with a back & forth four-bar solo duel that was spellbinding. A very good reason to feature him the following week.
Week Three: Harold's performance as the featured player this night, was equally as exciting as the previous week. Of course, we had to end the night with another rendition of "Maggot Brain" - long live Eddie Hazel !! This week saw a new jammer, Fabian Fernandez, who was so sensational we made him the featured player Week Four.
Week Four: Fabian did not disappoint. His talents were a marvelous addition to the host band. This week also brought members of the band "Chameleon" to our jam, and they were delightful. However, it was the night’s closing tune - Fabian's version of "Europa", that was the icing on the most decadent cake.
Week Five: The dynamic master of the guitar / slide guitar, Mr. Honey Davis, led off as our featured player. On this night the festivities were as unpredictable as they were impressive. “MudBone” played harp, backed-up by some of his associates (Grant Chlar, Nate Abm), with Sue Ann Carwell on Vocals and Aurelious on Sax, treating us to some real “Down Home” blues – Chicago style !!
One of the highlights of the night was the band “Ahab”, fine tuning their set for their upcoming show at Paladinos (the following Saturday). These guys are ones to watch, they're hot !
Week Six: The host band was joined this week by “Kid” Kirby Shaw, a remarkable up-and-coming guitar player, and Jeremiah Banks, a old jam friend from the Cozy’s days. Despite some technical snags at the beginning, the musicians treated the fans to some incredible performances. One of which was the rock and roll showcase with Pete and two other guitar players, with note for note dual leads - an in-your-face rock extravaganza....
And Now, ladies and gentleman…. for our Seventh Week, we will be featuring the man that the “Temptations” depended on for sax-ual interludes – Mr. Al Walker. There will be lots of surprises this night, as well, so don’t miss it !!
Thank you all, musicians and fans, regulars (especially) and occasional visitors, for your wonderful support !! Our jam is growing in reputation and popularity daily. This is your doing and it is most appreciated.
Every week brings new players and fans. Tell your friends we’d love to have them be one of them.
